Description
This is a reproduction of The Education of Achilles, a 1783 masterpiece by Jean Baptiste Regnault. Regnault produced the painting in 1783 when he was twenty-nine yer old. He was a Parisian whose life at sea was interrupted in 1769 when he was sent to Italy to study painting by Bardin. He won the Prix de Rome in 1776 and in the year of this work he was elected to the Academy des Beaux Arts. He founded a school of art which rivaled that of Jean Jacques David. He died in 1829 in Paris. This masterpiece is an oil on canvas and measures 102.8 by 84.6 inches. It is in the Louvre in Pais.
